ok, here's the nitty-gritty on ftp codes (the detailed answer to the
query i posted yesterday to both ibm-main and mvs-oe listservers) ; i
smoked this stuff out on the basis of the
responses/tips/hints/suggestions i got from all the kind people who
responded + consulting my " September 2005 z/OS v1r7 collection, online
library, sk3t-4269-15" which arrived very fortuitously in the mail
TODAY.
in general ftp return codes are in 2 parts: YYxxx, where
YY is the subcommand, documented in table 14, topic 4.11.1 of
sc31-8780-02,
entitled _IP_User's_Guide_and_Commands_
and
xxx is the reply code (from the server); these are documented in
chapter 16 of
sc31-8791-02, a.k.a.
_z/os_communication_server:_IP_and_SNA_codes_

fell short of the mark ....
