You can not use built-in address of IBM PCI 10/100 ETHERNET card in MP3000.
If you do not specify locally administrated address, then following
message appears during boot:

Unable to load using the individual node address stored on the NIC.
A valid address must be provided by using the NODE parameter in
PROTOCOL.INI
Failure: Driver did not load, NDIS environment invalid.
SYS1201: The device driver C:\IBMCOM\MACS\IBMFE.OS2 specified in the
DEIVCE statement
on line nnn of the CONFIG.SYS file was not installed.
 Line nnn is ignored

Burnt-in address of tokenring cards can be found in C:\IBMCOM\LANTRAN.LOG.
To find MAC address of ethernet-on-board, run MPTS, configure protocol
IBM IEEE 802.2 and do not specify locally administrated address (neither
in properties of adapter, or in properties of protocol IEEE 802.2 or
NETBIOS). Then reboot and look into C:\IBMCOM\LANTRAN.LOG

If you do not specify slot position of ethernet cards in MPTS, the cards
are assigned from bottom to top. So the first ethernet adapter specified
in MPTS is ethernet-on-board.
