I contended that the same question applies to system programmers that are familiar with SMP, and further contend that this situation may be thrust apon us (whichever group is "us") by managerial dictate. And I finally contend that some advice given by the SMP experts will ignored, forgotten, and/or misunderstood by the SMP neophyte; SMP is just too complicated for this not to happen. The expert may be completely justified in saying "You created te mess; you fix it", but who benefits from that? Give some help and maybe the neophyte will learn.
