I'm running two test zVM 5.2 LPARs on a z900 IFL. The z900 has two PCICC
cards installed (4 processors). All four PCICC processors are defined in
the LPAR's access and candidate lists.
There's some confusion (OK, lots) as to the availability of the PCICC
processors to a Linux guest. The Linux machines are defined with CRYPTO
APVIRT in the directory entry.
I've been under the impression that PCICC cards are not available to an
LPAR defined as "Linux only". However, if I load z90crypt and inquire it's
status (cat /proc/drive/z90crypt) I see this:
# cat z90crypt

Running an openssl speed test:
openssl speed des -engine ibmca -elapsed
clearly shows that the PCICC hardware is not being used.
Can anyone clarify why I see an online AP? Is it usable?
Thanks...
