Hello List,
I just stumbled across this statement concerning z/OS 1.8 and GRS.
"A new programming interface for GRS that is designed to allow authorized
programs to set their own concurrent enqueue (ENQ) limits within their
address spaces. "
This is actually one of two GRS items for z/OS R8. This one
addresses the limit on the number of ENQs within an address
space. The other one is to move star-mode QCB and QCBS control
blocks above the bar to address system-wide limits on the number
of ENQs.
Can anyone shed some light as to why you would need this?
Simple: Bigger systems support larger subsystems and
applications, which can need to serialize more resources, and
therefore need more ENQs.
BTW. Is there a current concurrent limit for an address space.

Sam answered this one pretty comprehensively.
