Tim,

The best way to educate application folks on the new (and old) capabilities
is to have them read through "z/OS DFSORT: Getting Started". It's an
excellent tutorial, with lots of examples, that will show them how to use
DFSORT, DFSORT's ICETOOL and DFSORT Symbols. You can access it online,
along with all of the other DFSORT books, from:

http://www.ibm.com/servers/storage/support/software/sort/mvs/srtmpub.html

"z/OS DFSORT: Getting Started" currently covers all of the functions
through the Dec, 2004 PTF (IFTHEN, OVERLAY, UFF, SFF, etc). It will be
updated to include all of the functions for the April, 2006 PTF later this
year, but for now my "User Guide for DFSORT PTFs UK90007 and UK90006"
covers all of that information in the "Tutorial" sections.
