As a more straightforward alternative, consider your JCL OUTPUT statement
options, specifically the JESDS, DEFAULT and OUTDISP parameters, for
conditionally redirecting job output when a job ABENDs, either to a physical
output device, a special JES queue, or if you must, an output class serviced
by an external writer (to dump the information to the MVS SYSLOG).
