Pat, What this tells me is that your FTP batch must operate in the "z/OS UNIX" environment since only there can /etc/hosts be in the search order for the "local host table".
Note however that, should this not be found, the x.HOST.xxxxINFO files will be used. Of course, you've got the be clear about the "x". (I'm assuming NOCOMMONSEARCH and IPV4.) This is surprising since only TSO FTP is supposed to use the "z/OS UNIX" environment while FTP (batch) - rather puzzlingly under the header "Communications Server TSO commands" - is supposed to use the "MVS" environment. Also rather disconcertingly, the lists towards the end of section 1.2.8.2, "Resolver configuration files", are described as "examples". It's as if the authors have given up trying to explain and suggest the use of the "trace resolver facility" to work out which environment the address space is operating under. Is there anyone who can shed some more light on this FTP client "environment" issue?
