Sometimes it depends on how the pack will be used. We have some SMS managed packs (3390-2/-3) that end up with many small data sets. For those packs we often need more than two cylinders for the vtoc.
I cannot recall a case where the index needed to be bigger than the VTOC. -----Original Message----- From: John Dawes [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, May 29, 2006 5:40 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Parms - Volume Initial Hallo All, Is there a rule of thumb that I can use to code the parms when initializing a volume via ICKDSF. I am not sure what I should use when initing the following: 3380 model E 3380 model K 3390 model 2 3390 model 3 3390 model 9 Below is what I am using to init a 3390-3 for example: INIT - UNITADDRESS(A0FC) - VOLID(PROD65) - VTOC(0,1,29) INDEX(2,0,45) - VERIFY(VEA0FC) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
