In an earlier life I wrote many apps that use all manner of strange
member names in PDSs and everything worked just fine. Do stay away
from x'ffffffffffffffff' (or, as the joke goes, anything higher :-) )
The end-of-directory marker is a key of x'ffffffffffffffff'
(following the last directory entry), anything else is ok.
(No need to stand..)

Obviously LOAD%& cannot be used, because it is illegal member name.
Actually, that's restriction of JCL and various programs which
access PDSes. Actual member names can be (almost?) any
characters. I've been in the position of having to delete a member
which had a lower case letter as part of its name. I've also seen
some with other strange hex characters.
I'm not sure which fine manual defines the actual restrictions
(if any) on member names.
