Hi,
We are an outsourcing shop with multiple clients running on ZOS 1.4 on
23 Lpars across two Z990 processors.
Our current ZOS rollout method is to order one base ZOS system
(Serverpac) containing all clients IBM Products.
We then clone this base system to all client Lpars and limit product
usage via IFAPRDXX.
This, of course, works only for things that use IFAPRDxx, and I
think all of them are z/OS elements. Other products, that don't
use IFAPRDxx, cannot be disabled this way. (My guess, and not an
IBM position: Whether you can clone them to other systems
probably depends on the terms and conditions of their licensing
agreements.)
After an IBM audit, we have been requested to delete product datasets
from Lpars (Clients) not licensed to run
Did people from IBM conduct this audit? If so, please e-mail me

these specific products....example: RMM, SDSF, IBM-REXX, GDDM-PGF,
INFOPRINT, HCM...etc.
RMM, SDSF, GDDM-PGF, INFOPRINT, and HCM are *not* products. They
are all elements of the z/OS product. Not only is it not
necessary to remove these from systems on which they are not
licensed (because they do use IFAPRDxx for enablement), but it is
a violation of z/OS support policy to do so and you can
potentially be refused service if you do so.
See 4.1.1 Choosing the z/OS or z/OS.e base and optional features
in z/OS Planning for Installation at:

I'm not sure what you mean by IBM-REXX. If you mean GDDM-REXX,
it's in the same category as the other z/OS elements above.
From our point of view this seems unnecessary and particularly difficult
in relation to software like DFRMM which is part of
the DFSMS base.
As above, I recommend that you not attempt to remove DFSMSrmm
from the z/OS product.
Can any other Outsource Company please explain how they implement a ZOS
base to different Client Lpars. The obvious
solution is to order a serverpac based on each Client software list but
this is not feasible due to us having more than 20 different clients.
