DYNALLOC is older thatn the 80's. I remember writing my first DYNALLOC call in 1975-76.

I don't know about AVGREC, but AVBLOCK on TSO ALLOCATE (and the underlying DYNALLOC) is very old - maybe early 1980s? It is there because there was previously no DYNALLOC equivalent of the JCL allocation by blocks without also setting the DCB BLKSIZE value.
