I am glad to hear he is still somewhat involved.  Unfortunately in my
semi-retired status (collecting pensions but willing to take
consulting or programming contracts) I can't justify the cost of going
to SHARE.  As someone who only had one computer course in college, OJT
is probably still more effective for actually learning any operating
environment.  While I am not in the same league with most of the
people, I know at SHARE, I was able to be a systems programmer and
keep the installation going.  What scared me was when an IBM CE told
me ours was one of the better run shops.  Maybe it was because we
regularly ran the EREP reports and actually read them.
