> ... could that not be a search engne crawler? Nah. I get thousands of visits from them every day, including IBM's crawler identifying itself as "IBM Almaden" and downloading all of my copyrighted site almost daily. But what can you do about 1,000lb gorillas with asshole lawyers?
Google is running an invitation-only program called "Google Analytics". This collects statistics about how the page was found - "referral" and other things such as how long the user stayed on the page, what browser was used, how they exit the page, etc. It doesn't just collect data about Google accesses, but about all accesses that render the page in a browser. Bots aren't counted. They're counted, of course, in server logs. I average around 300 MIPS-type accesses by carbon-based lifeforms a week. This last week the keywords have been 2096, z9bc, z9, and z890. -- Phil Payne http://www.isham-research.co.uk +44 7833 654 800 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
