Sorry Bruce, I didn't know anything about it myself until today, so I should have known better. CVS stands for Concurrent Versions System and it is an open source system which is unix based and is used for version control of source code in a development environment. Something akin to the commercially available system PVCS if you have come across that. I'm afraid I don't remember what PVCS stands for :-)
