Hi John,
When creating new members from scratch, you can setup your edit
profile with the following command:
PROF UNLOCK;NUM OFF;PROF LOCK
Then any time you create a member under the control of this profile,
it will be created without sequence numbers.
ISPF EDIT supports named profiles. The default profile for a session
will have a name that matches your dataset name's low level
qualifier. But you can always load a different profile with:
PROF name
For datasets that you are copying in from elsewhere, if the data
already has sequence numbers, then neither FTP or any other copying
program will automatically eliminate them. So in this case, you will
have to edit them and do the RENUM;UNNUM thing to get rid of the
sequence numbers.

Thanks David. It worked. Now, do I have to do this everytime I
create a new member or is there something else I can do?

use "ren;unnum". This will blank out cols. 73-80 regardless of what's there.
