Check the SMIT panels on AIX , there is a fairly comprehensive set of traces under Comm Server for AIX. It should be able to tell you what's going on. Also you can check the Topology database on AIX to see if has information on the routing that's going on. Alternatively you can trace the connection from both ends, which could give you a better picture of what's happening.
