>So us oldtimers rarely saw lower case in the "good old" days.
When I was at the University of Waterloo, in the mid-1970's, we had a large game library on a UNIX box. The only way to get to it was through a programme called 'play'. This ensured that you couldn't access them from 8-8 on weekdays. One of the 'games' was called TSO. So, from the prompt, you would enter: play TSO It would then put you back to what looked like the shell, but everything you typed would be mapped to upper case, even though the case you typed was actually passed on in the case you originally typed. Also, it would sleep for 5 (IIRC) seconds before displaying a READY instead of the usual prompt. It was written by a friend, after his first work-term as a programmer in a MVS shop. Mind you, this was before the days of ISPF (SPF, PDF, ISPF/PDF, System Programming Facility, Structured Programming Facility, Structured Productivity Facility). When in doubt.
