This often leads to the old "if you don't like our product, use another.
Oh, wait! There isn't one! Get stuffed!" Now, I'm not saying that is
actually the case here. Perhaps it is just not cost effective to devote
the resources to fix this problem (from the vendor's view point). 

This is, again, why I like "Open Source" software. If the "vendor"
can't/won't fix the problem, and you really want it fixed, then you can
fix it yourself or hire a guru to fix it. Not that this is exactly
acceptable to many companies. But that seems like it may be changing
somewhat with the adoption of z/Linux and Linux in general. My opinion,
not necessarily anybody else's.
