z/VM has the B2F0 instruction (IUCV/APPC) and z/VM-specific extensions to
the DIAGNOSE instruction (e.g. diag 8 to issue a CP command). Everything
else is virtualization or simulation of real z/Architecture and
processor-specific facilities. Other than that, there are no "special
instructions" in VM. CP uses the Interpretive Execution Facility (the SIE
instruction) just like PR/SM does to create partitions - the hardware is
sophisticated enough to allow both to run at the same time.

And while PR/SM and CP share a common ancestor, the cybergenetic drift is
such that they are no longer recognizably similar, having evolved to play
very different roles in the arena of virtualization.
