Hi,
ASG recently provided fixes to eliminate use of user key common storage
by TMONCICS. Past due but well done this provided not only a storage
key change but leveraged MVS/ESA technology to eliminate some common
storage use. Kudos to the TMONCICS development team for doing a
complete job while they had the code open!
PTF TH02641
Resolution:
The PTF reworks the use of the secondary addressing mode
cross memory technique replacing it with access register
mode usage in the Cross System Monitor. This change
removes much the need for CSA storage and CSA resident
programs. Remaining required CSA areas are allocated and
updated using storage protect key 0. SRB related CSA
storage is allocated for the life of the SRB only. No CSA
workarea is required for tce session or system tasks. With
the related updates to the LTSS200 via PTF level TQ01787
and the associated TH02650 and TH02651 PTFs, the TMON for
CICS/TS system no longer uses CSA storage in any user
storage protection key, and now has a minimal CSA/ECSA
storage requirement.
DEPENDENCY:
The Specific PTFs required for the LTSS200 FMID are:
TQ01784
TQ01787
Be sure the LMKLOAD dataset used for your ASG-TMON for
CICS/TS product has this minimum service level installed.
DOCUMENTATION:
This is one of a set of three PTFs that remove the use of
user key CSA storage by the TMON for CICS TS product.
The three PTF's are:
TH02641 - Updates to CSM region Modules (this PTF)
TH02651 - Updates to CICS resident DCS Modules
TH02650 - Updates to LFS Modules
Messages and codes:
-----------------------------------------------------------
TMONI0001W - Z/OS 1.8 COMPATIBLE OPERATION REQUIRES TSS PTF
TQ01787
Reason: The support for removing use of user key CSA is
applied to the Cross System Monitor, however, the
corresponding support PTF TQ01787 (or later) has not been
detected. The CSM will still operate normally if user key
CSA allocation is allowed, however, some user key CSA
allocated on behalf of the TCE product by The LTSS200
function will still exist. If the z/OS 1.8 option to
prevent allocation of user key CSA is in place the CSM will
fail when the user key CSA allocation attempt is made.
User Action: Apply the required Strategic Services PTF
level and restart the Cross System Monitor.
