Might want to try your test again and post the results. I routinely use IDCAMS to perform initial loads.
That said, I have worked with applications that can not / will not tolerate an empty file. They have their own 'priming' or formatting program to prepare the file for use. For example, the application may depend on some sort of header or control record that just has to be there even if there is no data. This is not a VSAM issue at all. -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Stan Saraczewski Sent: Thursday, September 14, 2006 9:33 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: VSAM question I tried the REPRO in a test environment and it did not work. It's been several weeks ago and I'd forgotten what the result was. If a application program opens the file as output then closes it without writing anything it is my understanding that the file is then 'primed'. --- Hal Merritt <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Can you be more specific? > > -----Original Message----- > From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of Stan Saraczewski > Sent: Wednesday, September 13, 2006 6:27 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: VSAM question > > Thanks for your reply, but the repro for some reason > did not work.
