Its 13 extents per F3 DSCB. But anyways he was asking about the
volume count limit of 59 in a non-VSAM catalog record, not the extent

Of course, you're right.! Not sure what I was thinking. (Perhaps that
momentary lapse is what some people call a "senior" moment.)
JES2 supports up to 253 spool extents ... not 59. And that limit is due
to the extent count in the DEB being only one byte wide (255 less two
for the checkpoint data sets).
I believe that limit has something to do with the max size of a
non-VSAM catalog record. After all the overhead info, the volume cell
can hold up to 59 volumes.
