Alan,

There is no definitive answer until you get your filled, and then it
will tell you the size. If you go read the book: ServerPac: Planning
for internet delivery at
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/epubs/pdf/a2322061.pdf, It says that
whatever the size is, add at least 500 cylinders. It then goes on to
say that your SMPNTS size should be allocated about 2 times the size of
your order. And finally, it says that a typical z/OS serverpac is on
the order of 5-6Gb compressed or 10-12Gb uncompressed.

We happen to have a lot of IBM products that tends to make our delivery
larger, so I am planning on allocating a zfs on the order of 40-50Gb
just to be safe.

Dave

Subject: Re: zFS Question

I started the thread because I am setting up a zFS for z/OS 1.8.

I've got 3 mod nines with 450,045 tracks. Is this going to be big
enough?
