Doh!  You need OA17424.

As far as the rest of the discussion goes there was always an assumption
with this feature that the TN3270 Ipaddr
and the target workstation are the same. If your network does interesting
things to make this assumption false then
you will have to connect in the tried and true fashion.

For the technically minded check out the GTTERM macro in the latest TSO
pubs.

z/OS 1.8.  It also removes the need for the SAS/C runtime.

I tried it and it didn't work properly.
It filled in the IP address with 99. 99. 99. 99 (the numbers were
the corrct ones for my connection but the blamks after the periods
caused it to fail).  When I removed the blanks it worked fine.
