Hi,

The target volume's format isn't an issue for you, the tracks are created
from the source, anything that existed on the target would be overlayed
(assuming it was released from the last time). You should keep in mind
though that when you do start to flash SMS volumes that you do the entire
SMS group as one, or as close as you can. Very large Storage Groups can be
difficult to get at one time, (which is a good reason for not letting them
get too big), but you should do your best. In all cases with Flashcopy, you
should try to keep things as consistent as possible. If you are going to
"snapshot" your DB/2 volumes, you might want to try to be sure to get all of
the related ones at the same time, the same goes for any other subsystem(s)
that you are running. This will make recovery easier should that ever be
necessary. It's no fun to go to a D.R. site and get things restored, but
still be out of sequence with each other so that you have a lot of extra
work to do.

Brian
