OK, I'll come clean... It wasn't even that obscure... Really rookie stuff... Less than rookie stuff... I tried to move a flag data item to a different register because I thought it was a good idea. It was sharing storage with the JOB card to add. The only problem is I didn't getmain any storage to point the new register. It was pointing to la la land. Probably something in nucleus. Yes, I'm everything your mother ever warned you about. And thanks again to Bob Rutledge. I had another problem with this exit on implementation day (a Sunday). I managed to figure it out and code a fix, but I lobbed another E-Mail at Bob and he responded to help again. You are all saviors for those of us in over our heads. And my implementation went very well even with the issues I generated for myself. We are now at z/OS 1.7 and planning our biennial upgrade to z/OS 1.9. Thanks again to all of you.
