We discovered (the "hard" way) that the secure sockets support on our

Are you sure that it's SSL 2.0? We are also using HMC 1.8.2 and I got the
"disabled security protocol"-message with FF2. But our HMC uses SSL 3.0
RC4-40-bit and this "low-grade encryption" is disabled by default in FF2.
I could enable it with: about:config -> scroll down to
"security.ssl3.rsa_rc4_40_md5" -> double-click (=toggle).
That was it! I jumped to an erroneous conclusion because I saw that
Firefox 2.0 dropped support for SSL 2.0. I was wrong. The HMC doesn't
use SSL 2.0. Rather, it uses low-grade (40-bit) SSL 3.0, which is also
disabled in Firefox 2.0 (by default). Thank You!
