The manual is: z/OS V1R6.0 MVS Diagnosis: Tools and Service Aids: GA22-7589-07 See chapter 4.1.1.1 If I do dump to DASD, how much space do I need? SAD has been optimized in the past to dump only what is needed, but you must count on a substantial part of CS plus what it needs from the page datasets. I would suggest at least 20 GB in your situation. There are also several options to speed up SAD to Dasd by using parallellisme.
