For those of you curious about the System z Academic Initiative, there's
another, new dimension to the program that just got added.  You don't have
to be in college for this one.


The IBM Academic Initiative System z team is pleased to announce the
availability of the IBM Entry Level for z/OS System Programmer Mastery test
.

This worldwide proctored test provides an avenue for both students and
professionals to distinguish their z/OS knowledge and expertise from
others.

A mastery test is an examination that’s used to verify mastery of subject
matter covered in a course or a defined set of learning materials. The IBM
System z Entry Level for z/OS System Programmer Mastery test verifies
knowledge contained in the IBM Introduction to the New Mainframe: z/OS
Basics textbook. This textbook is available through the IBM Academic
Initiative System z program and is also available for download at:

To find out more about the test:

      Go to ibm.com/certify and select Mastery tests (located under Related
      links).

      Select System z under the Select a mastery test category.

      Select test name IBM System z Entry Level for z/OS System Programmer
      Mastery Test (Test #Z01)

      Read the information located under Test Detail

      Note: You can choose to take an assessment test (a fee of $10) prior
      to taking the actual mastery test. The assessment test can be
      completed online and simulates the actual mastery test and helps you
      determine whether you would benefit from further study prior to
      taking the actual mastery exam. When signing up to take the
      assessment test, select Systems and Storage Assessment Tests.

      To register for the mastery test, or to locate the test center
      nearest you, select one of the provided test centers (Prometric or
      Pearson VUE). The fee for the mastery test is $95.


The Entry Level for z/OS System Programmer Mastery Test provides:


      A reliable, valid, and fair method of assessing z/OS knowledge

      A method of building and validating the knowledge of individuals

      A recognized tool for professional development.
