No you were not dreaming. File-AID has a number of different ways of supporting
VERY VERY large files. Window editing is just one way (as mentioned in this
thread previously). There is also Selection criteria, specifying larger temp
files (within the parameters section of File-AID) etc.

It depends on what is needed and what type of files you are working with.

You may want to take a look at frontline.compuware.com and look at the archived
spotlight sessions, In there is where you can find sessions on advanced edit
techniques, 'neat things' etc that you may be able to use.

These live sessions are presented on an ongoing bases, with QA after the formal
session (and archived as well for later review). They highlight a particular
aspects of Compuware's tool set. They are meant for current customers and the
schedule is posted on the web site for future session that you maybe interested
in.

At least you don't have to pinch yourself to wake up. <S>

Did I dream this, but isn't FileAid supposed to have the ability to edit very
large files that are not editable under ISPF/PDF edit?

Depending on the size of the file I have found that increasing your TSO REGION
size may help. Set it to 1G or more if your site allows it.

Hi,

I am trying (unsuccesffuly to delete portions of a large sequential file).
However, the EDIT method option 2 = Windowed Edit does not allow commands for
INSERT DELETE etc.

Is there a way of bypassing the problem?

  Thanks
