That shouldn't be so. Darren obscures the email addresses before they are forwarded to the newsgroup. From his Administrivia post of 16 Oct 2003:
"As you know, all postings to IBM-MAIN get ported to the newsgroup bit.listserv.ibm-main. This has caused everyone who posts to the list to start receiving large amounts of spam. I have made a change to the postings that get sent to the newsgroup. Newsgroup readers will notice that the email address of the poster has been altered slightly. I'm hoping this small change will reduce the amount of spam we all receive when we post. If the spammers figure out what I'm doing, I'll modify the email address again or remove the email address completely. We'll see what happens over time. Enjoy." http://bama.ua.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0310&L=ibm-main&P=R55459&I=1&X=575CF1119 C01367E07 Greg Shirey Ben E. Unfortunately, it seems to me to be far more likely that someone is combing the newsgroup for these addresses, in which case your original post is enough to get an address. ######################################################################## As of January 1, 2007, Ben E.
