Depending on your requirements, perhaps a formula is not needed? For 3390 DASD: - A cylinder holds exactly 780 KB (based on 4K blksize & no keys) - to store 1 MB of 4K blocks requires 1.3128 CYLs - 1 CYL = .76171875 MB

Also Gb to cyl. >Thanks I don't know the formula, but I do know I like the DASD Calculator. It does the calculation you are asking for, taking into account the different geometry of the device and the blocksize. And much more... http://www.centralcoastsoftware.com Cheers, Jantje. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
