Define your backup cycle as one day. The following works for me: DEFINE BACKUP(Y 1 CYCLESTARTDATE(1996/01/01))

This is for any of the DFHSM gurus out there. We are a University and have a small LPAR running z/OS 1.7 set up for our students to learn COBOL. I have no access to tape drives from this system and have ADDVOL'd DASD volumes for daily backups. Instead of wasting a bunch of 3390 mod3s with very little data on each, I would like to add just 2 3390 mod9s for backup purposes. The problem that arises is that HSM of course wants a volume for each day of the backup cycle and therefore doesn't reuse these mod9s for other days of the week. Is there some trick we can use to force these volumes available for each daily backup cycle. I was hoping refreshing BVR records would reset things but that didn't work. Thanks for any help you can provide. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
