Kriss Since, according to your analysis, this mainly concerns CICS, you should really be posting in the CICS-L list - although there's no reason why your query should not be posted here - just so long as the "cross-posting" is mentioned.
The order in which you present your information could do with some attention. You appear to want to set up a number of simultaneous TN3270 connections from a PC workstation to a TN3270 server which establishes sessions generally to the VTAM application CICS. Stated more generally, you want to run - I assume - transactions which are written to employ 3270-oriented calls as individual windows on a PC workstation. I mentioned your apparent requirement in the form of the previous paragraph just in case CICS - or just possibly a CICS add-on program - or simulator - provided such a function. This seems ultimately what you want. However I have no knowledge of such a program or feature of CICS. Going back to the TN3270 approach, why can't you just do what I describe? Is it that what I described was possible with the flavour of CICS you used before CICS/TS 3.1 and that something in CICS/TS 3.1 stops you doing that? How does this have anything to do with the session manager - of which you would have no need in the described scenario? More mysteriously how does "giving up some functions" relate to anything?!? Actually you mention RACF so perhaps there's some aspect of your security definitions which might assist understanding. I'm sorry if it's obvious what this might be to someone closer to the CICS of today. I'm butting in as an old VTAM hand only because "VTAM" was in the name of the Mackinney product and it caught my eye.
