The actual tradition is that on Usenet you abide by the charter and on
a listserv you abide by the policies of the list owner. Some news
groups have charters explicitly permitting certain types of
announcements. Darren has approved some announcements.
So my take is that if you ask Darren, he approves and you note in you
message that Big D has approved it, nobody will have legitimate
grounds for complaints.

Personally I'd rather see approved announcements posted here. If you
do set up your own list, be sure that you use confirmed (closed loop)
subscriptions.
