Good question. So does anyone know that if I set POSIX(ON) to enable me to invoke Java from COBOL, can I leave it on if I then go on to call non Java related programs. What would be the implications.

We do, and the few programmes loaded in 24-bit still work. LE just 'fixes' it if they're called.
