I don't remember all the specifics but initially IBM offered Batchpipes as a standalone product. It was later merged into the Smartbatch product which was a combination of Batchpipes with some automatic buffering and parallel processing tools. Then after a few years, Smartbatch was withdrawn and but the Batchpipes component was again offered by itself. I believe Batchpipes is still supported.
