elucidation does not always carry the day.

Rather like when automated language translations were first tried. The
phrase "Out of sight, out of mind" was translated into multiple
languages successively, finally ending in Englist again. The final
result was "Invisible, insane".
Idiomatic English can be very hard, if not impossible, to translate in
any meaningful way, to any other language.
