The MVS systems were to be controlled by VAX operators so I had to set-up the console so they could easily see important messages. Using different colours, including blinking and reverse, it made it easier for them to determine how to react to some messages, i.e. if a tape mount (which is red) wasn't satisified in a certain time period then a red reverse blinking message was output along with an alert (AF/Remote in this case.) Made my life a lot easier.
