How many jobs in production do you have that it's an issue?

IIRC, COPYMOD came out with XA.
We've/I've used it non-stop since then.
It's never been a bottlneck/resource hog.

The only place it's measurable (that I'm aware of) is during system's 
maintenance.
And, I would still do it, then.
