>I can change the memory allocated to my 2 lpars dynamically (I want to take some from TEST and give it to PROD)?
We tried it a few years ago, and found that the hassle wasn't worth the cost of memory. Because the reserved memory comes up offline. We tried to re-allocate in our automation, but parts weren't ready yet, and sometimes priviledged tasks got into the reserved piece, and you were toasted. 1. Define (on the HMC) Reserved Memory (similar to reserved CPU's). 2. Define RSU values as explained in LPAR Planning. 3. Reserved comes up offline, and now you want to assign it to test. 4. We tried bringing it all online to one image and then dropping half and assigning to the other. We couldn't get it offline fast enough, so it filled up. Also, yoy have to plan for at least the following. POR - who gets it first. One image down -- how does it find out what's available and gets it. How does the PROD image know wether it should get all or part, after re-IPL. How does the re-IPL'd test image know whether it's entitled to all/part? Etc. Etc. Etc. - Too busy driving to stop for gas! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
