Are the SCU-SERIAL and DEVICE-SERIAL the same in both cases or you see the anomaly there too? The contents of the various fields within the NED are documented in the DASD control unit reference books, q.v. Compare what the book says they are supposed to contain with what the display commands say. If there are any obvious discrepancies, then there is a software bug somewhere. Do this on another device whose NED is not hosed in order to be sure you are looking at the right fields within a NED. And be sure you are looking at the proper NED description in the control unit book, as the 256 bytes of configuration data contain multiple NEDs. Bill Fairchild
