You know I read ESS800 and was thinking DS8000.

We have 8 fiber channles connected to an ESS800 which has 36 packs and
8 loops and are using sequential files and vsam files(mainly ksds) on
a z900 mainframe now.We may add more fiber channels when we switch to
System Z.
Hopefully you have, or will get FICON Express. You can probably search
the archives as there have been a few discussions on which is better:
fewer faster CPUs or more slower CPUs.
