Steve
I think I noticed, as posts in this thread sped by, that it now concerns
which products residually may generate a persistent WTOR and that it has now
been revealed that IMS both issues a WTOR and can respond to a MODIFY (F)
command - I expect for much the same command entry.
I have known about IMS for very many years now - and was even responsible
for a demonstration IMS for a year or two long ago. I understood there was a
very firm philosophy underpinning IMS which can be expressed as follows:
If any technology is invented that provides a means for positioning the top
of a pair of trousers at the waist, IMS will immediately seize on it and put
it to use.

Subject: Re: What makes MASTER CONSOLE unique?
-Sam Knutson's excellent tutorial snipped-
Sam, I had an offline exchange with Brian Peterson about this. Apparently,
only the IMS DB/DC regions have the WTOR, and it does not appear to be
configurable. We have a couple dozen regions, none with the PARM=(CTL...
My ignorance of IMS has been put on display to the world. Luckily it's
not a unique experience for me. :-)
Sorry to have gotten anybody's hopes up.
Cheers,,,Steve
