Well, I'm a bit short of DASD, which is why I'm even using NFS. I really
need to ask for a couple more 3390-3 volumes for SMP/E type work (I have
3 SMPPTS datasets now - I gotta learn to clean those up, but I rarely
ACCEPT maintenance).

/tmp around here is a very small filesystem. I wouldn't want to use it
for some of these files!
