It depends on what can be done on the Cell processor. If it remains a
"black box" onto which customers cannot load their own software, then
who knows. If IBM only allows access to the Cell "subsystem" to people
under NDA for a large fee, then programs which run on it will still be
expensive. But if they make it more like a zIIP, where the interface is
generally documented, then it depends on what you can do using that
interface.

As always, "it dependes". Now, if this could be used to implement an x86
coprocessor in such a way as to run Linux/Intel binaries, that could be
interesting! Even if it were only available to a z/Linux OS.
