[1] I'm not sure that I had pneumonia the first time that I went on
sick call, but when I collapsed after two weeks of APC they took
me to the base hospital and the doctor only needed a cursory exam
to be sure, although he did order a chest X-ray as confirmation.
I suspect that I would only have lost a day or two had they
allowed me to see a doctor when I first got sick.
I think I had similar experience. I had pneumonia and they made me
walk to the hospital which was about 2 miles away. The sergeant got
court martialed (sp?) I believe for making me walk there. I spent 3
or 4 weeks in the hospital. Much more recently I have spent 4 weeks
in a hospital and a civilian hospital is orders of magnitude better
than any army hospital. I know I felt safer as this hospital had IBM
computers:)

[2] But pleasant and polite as long as we didn't cause him problems.
