Without getting into the specific issue, I believe that Russell makes the excellent general point that it serves the list audience best to only report direct first-hand experiences, rather than propagate what often enough turn out to be someone else's embroidered or imagined anecdotes.

I'm similarly disappointed by some of the people who post "from memory" when they could have spent a couple of minutes running a simple trial with a batch job, TSO command, ISPF function or whatever and then given us a definite answer,rather than a "provisional maybe".

Conversely, my hat is off to the posters who make an effort and then cut 'n paste, whether it's from the relevant manual or some other convincing source, often after having spent five or ten minutes to assure the quality of there response, and subsequently my time in reading their contribution.
