The math department doesn't understand why fixed decimal arithmetic is important thus most computers don't have a full set of decimal instructions. Speeding up graphics is more important than accurate tax calculation (Yes, I know that Intuit and company have programmed to compensate for the stupidity of binary only but that they have to galls me).
